THE ESSENTIALS

  • This Monday are examined the two motions of censure against the government of Elisabeth Borne. They follow the latter's appeal on Friday to article 49.3 to adopt without a vote in the National Assembly the pension reform project. In particular, it provides for raising the retirement age from 62 to 64.
  • The two motions to overthrow the government, one transpartisan of the Liot group and the other of the RN, will be put to the vote successively from 16 p.m. Co-signed by MPs from the Nupes, the Liot motion (Libertés, Indépendants Outre-mer et Territoires) is more likely to be voted by right-wing MPs who are not in favour of the pension reform. But the bar of an absolute majority of 287 votes seems difficult to reach.
  • Since Thursday, organized or spontaneous rallies against the reform have been taking place throughout the country, calmly or with excesses. The inter-union has called for a ninth day of mobilization, this Thursday, while the strike has hardened in the refineries and the garbage collectors continue their movement in Paris, Rennes or Nantes. Monday, work stoppages of supervisors are feared in high schools, for the first day of the specialty tests of the bac 2023.
