A 12-year-old grandmother who lost her 12-year-old grandson in a suspected car crash in Gangneung in December last year and was charged with manslaughter under the Special Law on Traffic Accident Handling has been investigated by the police for the first time.

Visiting the police station more than three months after the accident, the 60-year-old grandmother A, her son, and the defense criticized the National Institute of Scientific Investigation for trying to frame the grandmother and grant impunity to the automaker by conducting a poor investigation that only inspected the hardware without analyzing the software defects that must be done.

"The sudden crash is caused by a defect in the electronic control unit (ECU) software, which is the main computer of the car, and the bureau did not analyze it, but only the accident recorder (EDR)," he said, urging that "the software should be analyzed again."

The defense denied the results of the inspection by the bureau that did not inspect it, saying that the automatic emergency braking system did not work even though the "forward collision warning" sounded before the accident as a peculiarity in the case.

Mr. A's son and father of the deceased child said, "I hope that this investigation will end the terrible pain, memories and pain that my mother will have to remember again," and that he will submit 68,7 petitions for punishment sent from all over the country to the police.

He added, "I hope that the law will be changed on behalf of the powerless consumers who constantly fight manufacturers every time there is a sudden outbreak issue."

Earlier, on December 296 last year, in Hongje-dong, Gangneung City, a suspected SUV driven by Mr. A with his grandson was suspected of sudden starting, killing his 12-year-old grandson.

Even though Mr. A was seriously injured, it became known in the media that he had been criminally charged and suspected of a sudden rash, and within a week, 6,12 people agreed to the petition that Mr. A's family posted on the petition for the people's consent to the National Assembly.
