In a knife attack on a police officer in Jarmen in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the attacker has been shot. The attacked officer was seriously injured in the act on Friday evening and taken to a hospital, police said.

According to information from the "Ostsee-Zeitung", the police had been called to a house in the city center at 17:50 p.m. because the 32-year-old man was in an exceptional psychological situation. When he met the three police officers, he attacked one of the officers with a knife and seriously injured the 47-year-old. Then one of the policemen shot with his service weapon to incapacitate the man. He had died due to the severity of his gunshot wounds on the spot.

According to "Nordkurier" information, nothing more is officially known about the state of health of the officer from the Anklam police headquarters, he was taken to the University Hospital Greifswald for treatment. The Criminal Police Inspectorate Anklam has taken up the investigation.
