• Amazon Prime Video unveils this Friday, March 17 the last three episodes of the third season of LOL: Who laughs, comes out!.
  • For the first time in three seasons, the reality show of humor involves people outside the cast during the wild cards of the contestants.
  • "When Géraldine Nakache contacted us on Instagram, we left her a blank for two days because we thought it was a fake," Oriane of Just Vox told 20 Minutes. Finally, the a cappella group was tempted by this surprising experience.

"In this box, I reserved you a surprise who is just an artist I love," says Pierre Niney to his companions in episode 3 of the third season of LOL: Who laughs, comes out! "So I send the thing, it opens the curtain and I wish you to spend a pure moment with Benoît. " "Benoît who?" asks Géraldine Nakache. "You'll see the surprise," he adds. Behind the curtain, Benoît Turjman is in the starting blocks. After a first false alarm, it's his moment.

Like him, and for the first time in the program broadcast on Amazon Prime Video, several artists were invited by members of the cast to try to crack their opponents. They are singers, dancers, actors, mime or even former staracademician and participated in a humorous mission for a day. Worthy successors of Clarisse d'Angoulême, her briefcase and her plush friends, they reveal to 20 Minutes the backstage of these XXL joker cards.

"At first we thought it was a fake

When Instagram's notification badge turns red and they receive a "hello guys" from a certain Géraldine Nakache, the Just Vox quintet first believes in a fake. "We left him a blank for two days," rewinds Oriane, one of the three female voices in the group. But on closer inspection, the account seems official. "We finally answered her and she told us she was looking for an a cappella group for her wild card in LOL." Initially stunned, the members of the group do not understand what they could bring to the show. "We were afraid it was to make fun of a cappella singing," Valentine adds. But we thought: "Who are we to say no to Geraldine Nakache?" »

It is with four voices that they leave Belgium to meet the actress in Paris a few weeks later. "There's a bit of a running joke with Géraldine Nakache is that she always sings jingles a little naze," says Oriane. That's why she contacted the band mixing harmonies and beatbox, made popular on TikTok and Instagram with covers of popular songs.

Very quickly comes the battle plan of the actress. "She had the idea for her sketch and we thought through messages about the arrangements we could offer her."

Intensive preparation... Or not

Other competitors see the wild card as too big a risk. "I didn't prepare any," confesses Adèle Exarchopoulos. Forced to note that people she did not necessarily suspect can make her fall into the game, she welcomes this choice. "I know myself, I told myself that if I had prepared something, I would arrive and I would laugh."

To prepare the best tracker for his competitors, Pierre Niney reveals to 20 Minutes to have mixed his own ideas and those of the authors of LOL. "I came up with an idea of my own and it was embellished by people from the show," he says.

It is the production that contacts by email the "mime and actor with gesticulatory tendencies" Benoît Turjman. "We plotted by phone. I felt like I was preparing a raid with the youngest actor to win a Caesar. We were in a great energy to prepare funny traps, "he recalls. If he does not know the program, he lets himself be tempted, a little out of pride too because "it is with and for Pierre Niney anyway".

Accomplices on a "funny mission"

In the greatest secrecy, special guests are invited to a unique rehearsal with the star they accompany. For Just Vox, it's Tuesday while filming is scheduled for Saturday afternoon. For his part, Benoît Turjman has an appointment with his accomplice on Friday. "He was a stranger, we were on a funny mission," he laughs again. It was nice to see him bounce back, say, "Oh no, not that way." He had precise ideas, very strong opinions on trivialities. »

Student "the best known of the driving school Barbus" and especially of the Star Academy 2, it is also on Instagram that Laura Felpin poached Georges-Alain Jones. "I wanted to bring in someone completely unexpected," says the comedian. I wondered if he was aware that all France was going to see him. Behind the scenes, the surprise is already having an effect. "I went to greet him and he knew straight away that I knew who he was. He asked me my age... I guess he didn't think his appearance would have such an effect," says Oriane of Just Vox. For Valentine, it is clear, Laura Felpin will "hit hard". Both in the studio and on the networks after the broadcast of the first four episodes, the hindsight proves him right.

Behind the set, guests spend the day together without knowing when they will be called to the set. "Geraldine told us she wanted to get out her wild card soon enough... Finally we moved on to the last ones," adds Oriane. Benoît Turjman is called for the first time. "But it was a false alarm." The second is the right one, he is the first to stick to it.

"Keeping the road plan"

"When the curtain opens, I discover in front of me all these artists that I appreciate and directly all the sketches and their humor come back to me but I have to refrain from laughing," he explains. "It was a bit confusing but I had to keep the road map for Pierre." His performance over, he leaves the set, not failing to "give all his energy" to his foal.

When called, Just Vox have time for makeup retouching to refocus, because harmonies require flawless concentration. "We were asked to stay poker face, to never express a smile," says Oriane. The amount of emotions that go through them the moment they appear behind the curtain makes them feel like a blackout. Even today, they dread false notes when they see themselves on the screen. "As we sing, Leila [Bekhti] gets up and starts running around the room," she continues. We didn't understand anything because we didn't know it was his strategy not to laugh. We wondered if she had a problem... »

For all, the goal is clear. By accepting the invitation of a star, they know why and especially for whom they made the trip. "We wanted Geraldine's plan to work," Valentine insists. The quartet returned to Brussels before the end of filming and did not know the fate of the actress in the game. They hope she wins.

Express and unexpected experience

Benoît Turjman squats the dressing room longer, on the alert until the end of the shooting. "It was not impossible that they would still call on me," explains the actor. "Geraldine is cute because she sent us a message at the end of the shoot to say thank you," says Oriane.

An express but "unexpected" experience for all participants. All are delighted to have contributed to this strange parenthesis in their respective projects. "It was a very dense mission," admits Benoît Turjman. I went pretty quickly from touring my show to this mission, before returning to my tour. »
