Two months. This is the time that an American woman spent in a closet, forcibly locked up by her companion. According to a statement from the local police of Tennessee, relayed by the American media CBS, the victim claims to have been kidnapped and locked up, before being able to escape two months later. During her escape, she shared her story with a man working in Dyersburg, Tennessee, who rushed to report it to police. Following this, the police intervened and found the 40-year-old victim, hidden under a nearby house.

One hour of going out a day, little food and no toilet

"The victim stated that, for about two months, she was forced to stay in a closet closed by some kind of locking device with a cable and that she was only allowed out of the closet for one hour a day. The victim was only entitled to very limited food and did not have access to toilets," police said in the statement. When the police took charge of the victim, she had "cuts on her face" and weighed "less than 45 kilograms".

The suspect, a 30-year-old Brenton Bell, was the woman's boyfriend. Violent, after arguments, he has, according to the victim, imprisoned him in this closet. The man was arrested on Wednesday. He is being prosecuted for "aggravated kidnapping" and has been remanded in custody.
