A little more than a year after the murder of Paolo Corelli, which took place in Rome on the morning of February 14, 2022, the carabinieri of the investigative unit of the Ostia group have executed an order that orders the pre-trial detention in prison for a 27-year-old man, seriously suspected of being the author of the murder.

According to the provision, issued by the investigating judge at the Court of Rome, the suspect would have acted with the aggravating circumstance of premeditation and futile reasons having planned the execution to take revenge for an aggression suffered the previous evening for issues related to sums of money for which the latter was indebted to him. The suspect will also have to answer for the crimes of illegal carrying of weapons and possession of a false document, reads a note.

Ordered pre-trial detention in prison also for another man seriously suspected of the crime of extortion, for having planned and carried out an aggression against two people, in order to find the money, necessary to pay the expenses to the alleged author of the murder, to escape capture, fleeing abroad.

The murder took place at the first light of the morning of Valentine's Day 2022 when, as soon as he left his home, in the San Giorgio district of Acilia, the victim was hit by three gunshots. A few days after the murder, the alleged perpetrator absconded, leaving the national territory, using a false document. The man seriously suspected of Corelli's murder was traced near Fiumicino airport, returning from Barcelona.
