The town of Jouy-le-Châtel (Seine-et-Marne) was deprived of power Wednesday early afternoon. The reason? An agricultural accident. Around 13:30 p.m., a tractor hit a high-voltage line that supplied electricity to the village center and the majority of its hamlets, reports La République de Seine-et-Marne.

"The accident only caused material damage, there were no injuries," said Stéphane Bachelet, mayor of this small town of 1,500 inhabitants. The elected official alerted the various structures of the village that absolutely needed electricity to function. For example, the pharmacy has "repatriated an emergency feeding system to guarantee the cold chain of its refrigerated products".

The mayor also warned professionals, such as a chicken farmer based in Fontaine-Pépin. "The premises need to be ventilated, so the farmer has activated his generator," he says. He also invited the population to wait for the completion of the work carried out by the Enedis teams. The situation had returned to normal by late afternoon.
