Sultan Al Qasimi approves "Performing Arts" expansion projects

1100-seat College of Music in Sharjah

The Ruler of Sharjah approved the establishment of the College of Music, provided that the college after its establishment will be the largest conservatory in the country. WAM

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah and President of the Sharjah Performing Arts Academy, has approved a number of expansion projects to meet scientific and practical needs and to enhance and upgrade academic programs.

His Highness approved the establishment of the College of Music and its building, provided that the college will be the largest conservatory in the country, and the college will offer a number of types of music such as classical music, Arabic music, world music, music techniques, and music composition.

The College of Music building will house educational and practical facilities and will include a 1100,<>-seat music hall, music recording studios, training rooms, training studios and a music library.

His Highness approved the restructuring of the current academic programs of the Academy to join the College of Drama, and the current programs are represented in the Bachelor of Acting, Bachelor of Musical Theater, and Bachelor of Production Arts. His Highness also approved the establishment of additional housing for students to accommodate the increasing numbers in the academy and includes various main needs that provide students with the appropriate environment for residence and to support academic needs and extra-curricular activities.

His Highness was briefed on the progress of work at the Academy and the most prominent proposals for the expansion of the Academy in the programs offered and additional buildings and the development of existing facilities in line with scientific and practical needs.
