A man in his 60s who stabbed a police officer who responded to a report of noise has been handed over to prosecutors.

The Busan North Police Department announced today (60th) that Mr. A, who is in his 16s, has been detained and sent to prison on suspicion of attempted murder and obstruction of special official duties.

Mr. A is suspected of stabbing Mr. B, a police officer in his 6s, in the neck with a weapon at a residence in Buk-gu, Busan at around 6:25 am on the 40th.

At that time, when a resident reported that there was a continuous loud noise coming from Mr. A's house, Mr. B, who was working in a nearby district, went to the scene with his colleague.

Mr. A showed a threatening attitude to the police officers who arrived, and he suddenly stabbed Mr. B in the neck with the weapon he was holding during the scuffle.

Mr. A was arrested at the scene by another police officer who was at the scene and Mr. B on suspicion of obstructing the execution of special official duties.

At the time of the crime, he was reportedly not drinking or taking drugs.

During the police investigation, it was confirmed that Mr. A made a statement to the effect that "he felt that someone was coming to catch him and committed the crime."

Meanwhile, Police Officer B, who was stabbed in the chest, is fortunately not life-threatening, but he is being treated for injuries of three weeks.

The police officers who accompanied Mr. B to the scene are also currently receiving psychological treatment and are stabilizing.
