A man in his 40s who was enraged by a breakup notice and threatened his lover with a weapon and forced her to make false statements has been brought to trial.

Yesterday (15th), Jeonju District Prosecutor's Detective Division 1 (Assistant Prosecutor Lee Jung-woo) announced that he had arrested and charged Mr. A (44) with special intimidation.

Mr. A is accused of assaulting his lover, Mr. B, who informed him of the breakup, at his home in Deokjin-gu, Jeonju City, on December 12 last year and threatening her with a weapon.

In the process, he also harmed himself and threatened Mr. B.

As a result of the police investigation, it was determined that Mr. A committed the crime while drunk after receiving a breakup notice from his lover.

The prosecutor, who took over the case, later discovered that Mr. A had forced Mr. B to make a false statement, saying that he was "not threatened."

The prosecution detained Mr. A on the grounds that Mr. A continued to be violent, made false statements to Mr. B, and encouraged him to drop the charges.

The prosecution reportedly dismissed the assault charge without the right of prosecution, considering that Mr. B did not want to be punished for the assault.

An official of the prosecutor's office said, "We will ensure that Mr. A receives punishment commensurate with his crimes during the trial process," and "we will take strict action against intercourse violence in order to protect the safety of the body, which is the basic right of the people."
