Manta is one of the largest types of rays, some call it manta rays, others call it the bat. It is rare and endangered, due to its limited breeding rate, but Gaza fishermen have caught huge quantities of this species.

Gaza fishermen on the seashore offered this fish to sell to the population, and people came to the beach to watch it as well, and activists considered this a reward for fishermen in this besieged sector, especially since this type is cheap compared to other types of fish, the price per kilo of it is about $ 3.

For his part, the head of the Palestinian Fishermen's Syndicate in Gaza, Nizar Ayyash, explained the presence of these abundant numbers of batfish, and said, "The "bat" season begins on the first of March with the beginning of the migration of the "bat" coming from the southern areas of the Gaza Strip to the north, and ends at the beginning of next April. The passage period through the Gaza Sea is very small, and the numbers of migrants are small and not in large quantities."

How did the tweeters react?

The program "Shabakat" (2023/3/15) followed the interaction of social media users with the fishing of batfish, as activist Sana Ahmed said, "God willing, a mixture of garlic, cumin, a grill of spices and on frying, the wind is a masterpiece."

Activist Haitham Khaled tweeted, "Health and here on your hearts, God divides livelihood without calculation."

Um Odeh Allah wrote, "His departure from the sea in these numbers is a harbinger of an event."

Regarding its price, activist Bahjat Shawahin commented, "8 shekels, some workers in Gaza work all day because they get it."

As for the account "City", he warned that this type of fish is rare and must be preserved, saying, "O Gaza group, over our head, but what happens is a mistake because these are rare creatures and it is not right to catch them."

It is noteworthy that the fishing scene is familiar annually in Gaza, and although this type of fish is rare and endangered, but the difficult conditions of fishermen and the situation of the besieged strip make fishing an opportunity to improve their income, and the number of fishermen in Gaza is close to 3600,70 fishermen, and about <>,<> people live from fishing and selling fish in the Strip.
