The 28-year-old striker, who arrived at Borussia Dortmund from Ajax Amsterdam last July, had only participated in a few training sessions before the cancer was diagnosed, a few days after his signature.

Operated twice, Sébastien Haller underwent four rounds of chemotherapy before resuming training in January, competing on January 22, and finding the net on February 4 against Freiburg. Haller (15 caps, 4 goals) returns to Jean-Louis Gasset's squad for a double header against Comoros on 24 and 28 March in Group H of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Côte d'Ivoire, the host country of the competition, is automatically qualified but still participates in the qualifications.
