Multiplying experiences abroad without exhausting your stock of leave or losing job security is the promise of international teleworking! A niche practice that tends to grow thanks to the rise of "100% remote" – understand a fully remote way of working.
However, fluttering from country to country without moving for good to a single destination requires a certain logistics and in particular accommodation... In 2021, 1 in 5 travelers worldwide said they used Airbnb to work remotely while traveling. It was enough for the platform to launch a dedicated service.
Accommodation, activities, visa
While the accommodation site between individuals has faced increasingly restrictive regulations aimed at protecting the traditional rental stock, this new axis of development is a godsend.
Through its "Live and Work Anywhere" initiative, the community giant has launched a call for partnerships to all countries wishing to attract this new population of teleworkers, often made up of executives with significant purchasing power.
The objective: to promote destinations that make life easier for these transient workers, while allowing the main interested parties to easily find the practical information they need to stay a few weeks there.
This program, which was launched in spring 2022, already has about twenty partner destinations around the world, such as the Canary Islands, Malta, Bali, Mexico City, Palm Springs (California) or Thailand. Another example is Lisbon and Dubai, two of the world's top three cities to live in for remote workers (the third being Miami), according to the Savills Executive Nomad Index 2022.
