He canceled his wedding after discovering an "unforgivable flaw" in the bride

A groom cancelled his wedding after discovering that his bride had scored low marks in the twelfth grade exam, an "unforgivable" affair, his family has publicly argued.

Odisha TV reported that the strange incident took place in the Terva Kotuwali district of Kanug district of Uttar Pradesh (India), and the groom's family attributed the cancellation of the wedding ceremony to the low marks the bride had received while she was at school. But the bride's family rejected these arguments, noting that the groom's family demanded that the bride's family raise the dowry she would give to the couple, but the latter refused.

According to reports, the two families had previously agreed on all official and unofficial details, and that a traditional ceremony to confirm the marriage had already been held in which the groom presented a gold ring to his bride. But the groom's family raised the dowry a few days after the ceremony, which the girl's father could not afford.

The bride's father, whose name is Sonny, said that the groom's family, whose name is Sono, tried to break off the relationship by telling them that they discovered that the girl had low marks in the twelfth grade marks.

This is not new in India, where similar reports have been reported in the media, including a bride cancelling her wedding after the groom failed to answer simple math questions.

However, regarding this story, the bride's parents decided to turn to the police. This took place as "good mediators" tried to intervene between the two parties to solve the problem, but to no avail.

Police are trying to resolve the case by advising the families. However, if the parties do not reach consensus, the police will take appropriate action according to available factors, the police station official said.
