The General Assembly of the Central Council for Education = Central Education Council was held, and Mr. Katsumi Arase, who serves as the president of the independent administrative agency "Teacher Support Organization", was elected as the new president.

The Central Council of Education, an advisory body to the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, held its first general meeting since the appointment of new members on January 10, and elected Katsumi Arase, a former high school teacher and president of the Independent Administrative Agency Teachers' Support Organization, as its new president.

In response to this, State Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology pointed out that "it is necessary to realize the direction and vision indicated so far this term," and ▽ School education utilizing ICT = information and communication technology, ▽ Higher education response amid the declining birthrate,

▽ He called for further discussions on lifelong learning and social education in the "100-year life era."

In response, Mr. Arase replied, "Looking 10 or 20 years into the future, at the same time, we will value the attitude of listening carefully to the voices of the people in the field, being close to the people concerned, and thinking carefully."

After the meeting, Mr. Arase told reporters, "I would like to advance discussions and express opinions in order to materialize the reports so far.
