Goodbye comfortable pairs of sneakers and hello oversized quirky heels. If the trends had so far focused on sneakers, dad shoes, Crocs and Birkenstock, which focus on practicality above all, now during the last Fashion Month, eccentricity was at the rendezvous. On the catwalks, the designers presented the great return of atypical shoes. In Milan in particular, Ferragamo has highlighted heels at an angle, as well as broken, in thin or compensated versions. Models that made a lot of noise on social networks, where users applauded the shoes of tomorrow.

The Italian house is not the only one to stand out. Shoes inspired by a dollhouse or a cartoon from Haus Of Honey, Moschino's zig zag heels or paint stain style, Del Core's vertiginous and totally quirky heels, Loewe's round-toed heels, or Thom Browne's clock-style, Lanvin's Minnie shoes-inspired pumps, or the imposing heels of Huishan Zhang, all suggest that women's shoes will never be the same, for the happiness - or not - of our little petons. And that's without counting on brands that have chosen to create heels highlighting their initials or logos, such as Gucci or JW Anderson, among others.

Futuristic materials on the podium

The revival of the shoe also involves the introduction of new materials, and not just any materials. Here again, designers and major fashion houses have given themselves the word to present futuristic materials, far from those traditionally used in the world of footwear. While some, like Diesel, have presented shoes encrusted with crystals and other sparkling details, certainly original but already seen and reviewed, others have shown an overflowing imagination to reveal models that seem straight out of a science fiction movie.

This is the case at MSGM which offers for next winter pumps or sandals covered with faux fur, or giving the illusion of precious stones or (real) crystals, but also at Sportmax which opts for hair and wool. Salvatore Vignola also plays the moumoute card, decidedly very popular for autumn-winter 2023, while Loewe wants to be regressive with pumps covered with colorful confetti. Lanvin, Stella McCartney, and Thom Browne have also highlighted futuristic materials that should shape the future of women's shoewear.

Eccentric details on all feet

The ultimate touch to this new extravagance: the multitude of details, accessories and other frills that now adorn the shoes. Certainly difficult to exhibit in the subway, but often worthy of real works of art. Palomo Spain has endowed its boots with many imposing laces, Dion Lee his waders with a fishing net, Loewe his pumps with an oversized knot, Chanel with imposing camellias, and Moschino his boots with belt buckles. And if this is not enough for the most eccentric, next winter they will still be able to deal with the famous shoe pants, a two-in-one notably spotted at Diesel and Y/Project.
