Jean Dujardin is one of the few French actors to have received an Oscar. However, it did not make him want to impose himself in Hollywood, on the contrary. And for good reason: the language barrier, even for bilingual actors.

"I don't think a French actor can perform well in English. I do not take pleasure in playing in English, I find it just exotic to do it from time to time, "he said in the portrait that was dedicated to him in the TF1 show Sept à Huit this Sunday.

What else?

In addition, he is very attached to the country where he was born. "I like this country [the France] and I like to say it because I think it's the biggest problem of this country, it doesn't like itself or not enough," he told Audrey Crespo-Mara.

Only small downside, the French obviously speak too much wrongly and indirectly. "There is a lot of noise in this society. It comments a lot, it talks a lot and sometimes for nothing. I always thought in doubt, that it was better to be silent, already you seem smarter than if you say. Creating a hashtag #Fermetagueule that would be nice," he added.

The disappointment, "common language" with George Clooney

A line of conduct that he applies in any case in the language of Shakespeare. As a reminder, Jean Dujardin was able to do without a speech in English by receiving the Oscar for The Artist, a silent film by Michel Hazanavicius. A mime sequence had been enough to seduce the whole assembly.

This language barrier does not prevent him from maintaining a solid friendship with his coffee-loving accomplice in the advertising of a famous brand of capsules. And for good reason: they invented their own language.

"I'm friends with George [Clooney], he's almost European, he's in Italy, a little bit in France," says Jean Dujardin. "He tries a little to speak French, I try a little to speak English and we find a common language that is the funny."
