The first half had passed without incident when a scuffle broke out at half-time of the Gambardella Cup match between FC Nantes youth and Monaco on Sunday afternoon at the Marcel-Saupin stadium, reports Ouest-France. For an unknown reason, an individual present in the stands threatened a player of the Nantes training center with a knife. This caused a brawl in the stadium involving about twenty people. The young Nantes player threatened had to take refuge in the locker room and five police crews were mobilized to calm the spirits.
When they arrived, the alleged perpetrator had already fled. According to the daily, the FC Nantes player did not wish to file a complaint. In this tense atmosphere, the Loire club was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Gambardella by Monaco (0-1).
