Flames burn fiercely as if to engulf the dark ridges.

Smoke and dust from wildfires fill the air to obscure the view.

A thermal imaging camera inspects the affected area, and even where the flames appear to have been contained, embers and heat remain.

At around 1:20 p.m. yesterday, a fire broke out at a mountain in Jirisan National Park in Hwagae-myeon, Hadong County, South Gyeongsang Province.

As the wildfire continued to spread, the Forest Service issued a second stage of response and evacuated 2 residents in case of emergency.

Even at night, 56 firefighting personnel and 699 equipment were mobilized to build a fire line, but the firefighting work was difficult due to the rough conditions.

The extinguishing rate was 52% as of 5 p.m., and 72 hectares, equivalent to 120 football fields, have been burned so far.

There were also unfortunate casualties during the overnight evolution.

At around 85 o'clock last night, Mr. A, a forest fire extinguishing team member in his 10s from Jinju City, who was climbing a mountain for night extinguishing work, fell unconscious.

Another operator who discovered it performed CPR and took him to the hospital, where he died this morning.

The forest authorities plan to deploy wildfire extinguishing helicopters and extinguishing personnel as soon as the sun rises to extinguish the remaining fires.
