Elon Musk builds 'utopia' in Texas

Elon Musk bought thousands of acres of land nearly 35 miles outside Austin and plans to build his own city, Snelbrook, for employees to live and work, the Wall Street Journal has revealed.

In meetings with landowners and real estate agents, Musk and his corporate employees described his vision as a kind of "utopia" in Texas, along the Colorado River, where his employees could live and work.

Musk plans to rent homes for workers, which are much lower than the local market, with a two-bedroom house priced at $800 a month, compared to $2200,<> a month in the nearby city of Bastrop.

Musk's Utopia is close to the Boring and SpaceX buildings being built in Texas. The site already includes a collection of model houses, swimming pools, an outdoor sports area and a gym, according to people familiar with the city, according to the newspaper.

Photos posted on social media showed signs hanging with poles reading "Hello, Snelbrook, Texas, founded in 2021."
