The journalist Giulio Colavolpe, a long-time signature and historical face of Tg2, died in Rome. Born in Fano on June 7, 1940, Colavolpe studied in Rome where he graduated from the Torquato Tasso high school with honors and where he then graduated in law at Sapienza University and graduated from the Institute for the Middle East in Russian. A professional journalist since 1964, he made his debut in the information service of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers in 1960 as an editor of news reports taken from international press agencies and then moved, two years later, to ANSA, first in the foreign editorial office, then to the desk and diplomatic editorial office.

In 1965 he entered the Rai competition and after a year of Giornale Radio he moved to the Parliamentary Services directed by Jader Jacobelli, creating the radio and TV news of Oggi al Parlamento. In 1976 he moved to Tg2, then directed by Andrea Barbato: for that newspaper he worked until 1998, as a political-parliamentary journalist and special correspondent following three presidents of the Republic (Pertini, Cossiga and Scalfaro), then as a political commentator and finally as central editor-in-chief at the news layout desk.

From 1998 to 2007 he collaborated in the Tg2 Dossier column, creating about sixty long reportages in Italy and abroad on news, current affairs, geopolitical history. From 2 July 1989 he was married to Giovanna Pierelli, with whom he had two children, Giulia and Luca. The funeral will take place on Monday 13 March at 10.00 am in Rome, at the Parish Basilica "San Camillo de Lellis" at the Sallustiani Gardens in via Sallustiana, and on Tuesday 14 at 10.00 am at the Cathedral of Fano
