Recently, an online community posted a photo titled, "Can we seriously report our toilet?"

This is a photo of a convenience store toilet, with the toilet lid open and dozens of cup noodles stored next to it without a barrier.

As the post spread, photos of other part-time convenience store workers were also lined up around the toilet bowl with not only ramen noodles, but also

eggs and rice, and even unpackaged canned drinks.

A study by researchers at the University of Colorado in Boulder, U.S.A., found that flushing a toilet without closing the lid caused water droplets to spew out into the air, some even reaching the ceiling.

Droplets that pop up when flushing toilets pose a risk of transmitting various pathogens, including E. coli and norovirus, and are more likely to spread contaminated droplets, especially in public toilet settings, the team explained.

Respondents responded, "The cup noodles smell like noodles," "There's more to that place than I thought," and "I don't think it's going to happen in my own house."
