The president of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, Laurent Wauquiez (LR), threatened Thursday to seize the administrative justice for "unequal treatment" after the government's decision to grant financial aid to the Ile-de-France region for the Navigo pass.

"I cannot accept that we treat differently the inhabitants of the Paris region from those of our territories," he told the press, promising to "seize the administrative justice" if the government confirms its "refusal" to help other regions in the same way.

In order to avoid an excessive increase in fares in public transport in the Paris region due to inflation and soaring energy prices, the Minister Delegate for Transport Clément Beaune promised on 6 December an "exceptional aid" of 200 million euros to Ile-de-France Mobilités (IDFM). It is a question of "protecting users and avoiding that we have a Navigo pass that explodes," he justified in the columns of the Parisian.

'Humiliating response'

"I had asked, and the association of France regions had asked too" that "all regions be treated in the same way, it is normal". But "we had the humiliating response from the Prime Minister and the Minister of Transport, who said 'move around, there is nothing to see'. There are 200 million euros for the Ile-de-France region and for the others zero, "says Laurent Wauquiez before a plenary session of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

"We will have zero compensation on the price of energy that the SNCF seeks to impose, [...] it is deeply unfair and very revealing of their vision of what the Republic is, "insisted the elected official, denouncing an "inequality of treatment" likely to justify an action in administrative justice and noting that this aid will be financed by the "taxes" of all.
