A guru worried by justice. Thierry Casasnovas, champion of fasting and raw food with 600,000 subscribers on YouTube, who is the subject of a judicial investigation including for "illegal practice of medicine", is in custody Thursday evening, said the Perpignan prosecutor's office. The decision to bring him before a judge on Friday for possible indictment has not yet been made.

A search had taken place in February 2022 at the home of this influencer, based in the Pyrénées-Orientales, who had not been placed in custody at the time. In the summer of 2020, the prosecutor's office opened a judicial investigation against him for "illegal practice of the profession of doctor", "abuse of weakness" and "misleading commercial practices", before adding, in autumn 2021, the charge of "economic and financial crimes".

He presents himself as a naturopath

Thierry Casasnovas, who presents himself as a naturopath, became known for his videos, watched by hundreds of thousands of subscribers, where he defends eating raw and abstinence to better live, regenerate and detoxify his body. According to these videos, these practices can prevent or even cure cancer, diabetes or depression.

Last November, the interministerial mission of vigilance and fight against sectarian excesses (Miviludes), was still alarmed by the influence of Thierry Casasnovas on several followers, who have notably "renounced their medical treatments". Since 2011, Miviludes has identified more than 600 reports against him, as reported by Le Parisien.
