• One month after Popeye's, a new fried chicken brand opens its doors in Paris
  • Bonchon arrives from Korea preceded by an excellent reputation in the United States as in Japan
  • "20 Minutes" tested its specialties in preview and particularly appreciated its chicken wings, as subtle as crispy

Imagine chicken in a new fast-food restaurant, or rather fast-good, well not fast-casual to highlight how much this restaurant has gone upmarket lately... You say Popeye's? Well here is one of its direct competitors that opens this Thursday, March 9, a few hundred meters away: Bonchon. A brand that does not come from the United States, but from Korea. And whose chicken burger uses the thigh when Popeye's revels in white.

After tasting them, we say that it is probably no coincidence that Bonchon was voted "best chicken wings" in the world by Business Insider, as they are crispy and tasty at will. An unexpected crush.

A solid reputation in Korea and beyond

Bonchon, a Korean fast food chain, is beginning to build a solid reputation in Japan (against the famous karaage) and in the United States (against the behemoths KFC or Popeye's). It has also been included in the "500 Best Restaurants" ranking by Nation's Restaurant News and the "Top 100 Movers & Shakers" by Fast Casual Magazine. Here is another chicken specialist who shows the same desire as others to offer a restaurant that is both fast and qualitative, prepared minute and served at the table, but with different seasonings and affordable menus for less than ten euros.

The opportunity to discover its fried chicken, but also a range of Korean cuisine, bulgogi, mandu, japchae or vegetarian dishes ... With more than 400 establishments worldwide, Bonchon is therefore establishing itself on French territory. "Our long-term goal is to open about 25 restaurants in France in the next five years," Michel Abdelnour, president of Bonchon France who intends to impose K-food and K-culture of his brand in a hypercompetitive market where street food that combines quality and accessibility is a booming trend.
