Spring is not here yet, but the summer holidays are already planned. It is for these holidaymakers of the first hour that the SNCF has put on sale this Wednesday, from 6 am, the train tickets for the summer. It is now possible for travellers to book their TGV INOUI or INTERCITES tickets from 8 July to 3 September. On the OUIGO2 side, sales are even open until December 9.

The train company, on its website, nevertheless recalls that the sooner the better to benefit from advantageous fares and alerts travelers: "Anticipate as much as possible the purchase of your tickets. "

23 million people took the train last summer

According to Le Parisien, this is the "yield management" approach, that is to say that the more the train is requested, the more the price of tickets increases. Therefore, the earlier the purchase is made, the more likely the traveler will be to benefit from lower prices.

An anticipation all the more advantageous that, on average, the SNCF has increased its fares by 5% since the beginning of 2023. This increase would be directly related to the estimated 13% increase in the group's energy bill. Will these higher prices have an impact on the number of travelers for the summer? In 2022, during the summer holidays, 23 million people had taken the train: this was 10% more than in 2019, marking a real attraction for this means of transport.
