A foreign cruise ship, whose acceptance had been suspended due to the new corona's border measures, entered the port of Kobe for the first time in three years, and was welcomed by the locals.

The British-registered large cruise ship "Diamond Princess" entered the port and slowly docked at around 7:00 am on the 8th.

It is the first time in about three years that a foreign cruise ship has entered the port of Kobe since the border measures against the new corona were eased.

At the port, locals welcomed us by waving flags.

Three years ago in February, a new corona outbreak occurred on the "Diamond Princess" that entered the port of Yokohama, and after that, the acceptance of foreign cruise ships was suspended.

On board, temperature checks and confirmation of vaccination certificates were carried out as measures against infection, and passengers who finished quarantine and immigration procedures headed to the nearest station and went sightseeing.

A man who visited from the United States with a female friend said, "The infection control measures were taken on board. I want to enjoy shopping and dining in Kobe."

Takashi Sezawa, Director of the Promotion Division of the Kobe City Port and Harbor Bureau, said, "I'm happy to be able to resume accepting cruise ships that were familiar to citizens who called in every spring before the corona crisis. I would like to proceed with the acceptance of cruise ships."
