Chinanews.com, Tianjin, March 8, title: "Her power" in China's aerospace industry: Chasing dreams and stars in the sky with the posture of a woman

  Author Wang Zaiyu

"How is the assembly process of this product designed? There are many problems in the design and process. If you don't consider the problem systematically, you can only treat the head if you have a headache, and treat the foot if you hurt your foot." "The technical director of the Aerospace Product Center of the 518th Institute of the Fifth Academy of Aerospace Sciences Wang Yufeng recalled the severe criticism of Chen Tongxiang, an old expert in manned spaceflight, "I just transferred to the aerospace product technology back then, and I was relatively unfamiliar with some jobs, but thanks to the strict guidance of Mr. Chen, our team has achieved today's results. And then 'adding bricks and tiles' to China's aerospace industry."

In the impression of many people, the aerospace field is the home of men and the romance of men, but in fact, the 518 Institute of the Fifth Aerospace Academy in Tianjin has a special vanguard team for space station missions. This vanguard team consists of 27 people. Among them, there are 17 female employees, which can be called a "team of women" in aerospace.

The cabinet developed by Wang Yufeng has passed the examination and verification.

A few days ago, the Mengtian experimental cabin combustion science experiment cabinet successfully carried out the first on-orbit ignition experiment, which verified the completeness of the functions of the space station combustion science experiment system and the accuracy and scientificity of the overall experiment process, laying a good foundation for the follow-up space science combustion experiment project .

The design of the exhaust purification subsystem of the combustion science experiment cabinet, as well as the manufacturing tasks of the human system research cabinet of the Tianhe core cabin and the aerospace basic test cabinet of the Mengtian experimental cabin were all completed by this pioneer team, contributing to the Chinese space station. "She Power".

"In fact, I was engaged in the realization of manned spaceflight products by Mr. Chen. I remember that there was a product process plan back then. We all started to sort out and analyze it from 1:30 in the afternoon until 8:00 in the evening before eating. At that time Ms. Chen is almost 60 years old, but her enthusiasm for the aerospace industry is still the same as when she was young, concentrating and forgetting to eat and sleep." Wang Yufeng said, "There are too many situations like this, and she has proved her dedication to the aerospace industry with practical actions time and time again. Unlimited love is an example for the female compatriots in our team to learn from."

Regarding the aerospace industry, Wang Yufeng said that when she was young, she looked up at the deep night sky and was puzzled by the edge of the universe. She also had an aerospace dream. She dreamed of picking stars and the moon in the sky, but she never thought that she would pursue and realize her dream in this way when she grew up.

The collective of the team has successively participated in the missions of China's Chang'e-3 and No. 4 transfer agencies, and also undertaken the assembly tasks of multiple stand-alone Mars probes on Tianwen-1, which laid the foundation for the growth of the team.

Talking about these tasks, Wang Yufeng was a little excited, just like the stars shining in the sky, they also contained the light of their team.

"Behind every large-scale aerospace project, there are countless astronauts who contribute in obscurity, and female employees also account for a large proportion." Wang Yufeng said that aerospace engineering products have the characteristics of high precision, short production cycle, and many process details. , which coincides with the unique advantages of female compatriots in work such as "strictness, prudence, meticulousness, and practicality". This is also the key to the majority of women in spaceflight who can withstand pressure and overcome difficulties in projects.

Women's Fanghua concentrates on overcoming difficulties

Every project product in the manned spaceflight project of China's space station has very high precision requirements, because a little error may cause very serious problems or even catastrophic disasters due to the violent vibration during the launch process.

"The staff involved in China's aerospace industry may not earn billions in their lifetime, but because of a carelessness, aerospace projects worth tens or even tens of billions may be directly scrapped." Wang Yufeng said.

For example, the combustion science experiment cabinet in the Mengtian experimental cabin of the Chinese space station. This experimental cabinet is expected to complete more than 40 on-orbit combustion experiments by the end of 2023. These experiments will obtain the first batch of space station experimental data for the field of microgravity combustion in China, serving for Theoretical developments related to the synthesis of devices and materials for ground and space combustion applications.

For the astronauts on the space station, these experiments are very risky.

Because some combustion experiments will produce harmful gases to the human body, if these experimental gases cannot be filtered safely and the exhaust gas is discharged out of the cabin in time, it will not only affect the experimental data results, but also may have a serious impact on the health of astronauts.

Wang Kun, who is in charge of designing the exhaust purification subsystem of the experimental cabinet in the vanguard team, said, "At the beginning we searched for relevant foreign documents, but found that these documents were design schemes more than ten years ago, and the leakage rate was relatively high, which could not meet our current requirements. Stage requirements. So we overcame all difficulties, independently developed and designed a new type of magnetic drive circulating pump, and achieved a technological breakthrough that the leakage rate of a single machine is two orders of magnitude higher than that of the German KNF diaphragm pump. We can proudly say that this technology has reached the world's advanced level. level."

"The human system research cabinet in the sky and core module of the space station is also manufactured by our team. This cabinet is like an astronaut medical examination center in space. Its accuracy is directly related to the astronaut's health inspection. Faced with extremely high installation and adjustment accuracy, We have realized the free replacement of the cabinet interface, and the assembly accuracy of 14 sets of load installation interfaces is within 0.1 mm, which is equivalent to the thickness of a hair.” Wang Yufeng, the process leader of the project, said that in the face of complex test requirements, the team completed The development and commissioning of the entire process of 36 procedures ensured the stable operation of China's first space station astronaut life and health system in orbit.

Business and family care about both "big" and "small"

Both Wang Yufeng and her lover work in Institute 518. They are model couples in the unit, but their busy work makes it rare for them to be able to accompany their two children at the same time.

"I remember that during the Spring Festival one year, I was arguing with my lover about who was going to work overtime today. In the past, I would go home to accompany my children." Wang Yufeng recalled, "Since the model task I was in charge of this time was to launch the model, the task priority If it is higher, let him go home to accompany the child."

"If you must do it yourself, you must be responsible." This is the family motto Wang Yufeng wrote to her children, and she also does the same at work.

She said that for workers engaged in the aerospace industry, working overtime is commonplace, because this kind of work is of scientific research nature, and problems will inevitably be encountered in the research and development process, and the problems must be solved within a limited time. The R&D team has to work overtime to solve this problem, which is the responsibility and mission of every astronaut.

The vast number of female compatriots engaged in the aerospace industry have sacrificed even more. They not only have to withstand the huge work pressure, but also take care of their families.

"In 2018, I had just given birth to my second child. At that time, a designer of our model had just given birth. The task was to complete a new 'flexible structure' product of a certain model. The task time was very tight, and we could only Keeping up with progress while raising children, this situation can be said to be the hardest time for female compatriots in the aerospace industry. Aerospace is a project with extremely high risks and huge systems. Only after experiencing some things will you have confidence in the quality of aerospace products. It was a heart-wrenching realization." Wang Yufeng recalled.

All success comes from hard work and exploration of the unknown. There is no flat road in science, only "dream chasers" who are not afraid of hardships continue to climb the peak.

But for female compatriots who "marry" into the aerospace industry, taking care of the family sometimes requires mutual support.

Wang Yufeng said: "One time my daughter celebrated her birthday, but my wife and I couldn't accompany her due to work, so the female colleagues in our office brought their children to celebrate my daughter's birthday. This incident deeply touched me. The 'her power' of female colleagues."

Love the family and serve the country's aerospace dream, and the heroine's meritorious deeds ask the sky.

Over the years, Wang Yufeng and her vanguard have been sticking to the front line of China's aerospace industry, constantly "adding bricks and tiles" to the Chinese space station.

Wang Yufeng said: "We feel very lucky to be able to participate in the great project of China's space station construction, and we also hope that female compatriots who also have space dreams will join China's space industry, contribute our 'her power', and support China's space industry' half of the sky."
