On Tuesday morning, two "wild" power cuts, blamed on strikers and targeting the port area of Capécure and a commercial area, affected up to 4,000 users in Boulogne-sur-Mer, Pas-de-Calais, Enedis told AFP.

These outages, caused between 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., still deprived some 1,500 customers of power at midday, according to the electricity distributor. These cuts occurred while "agents of the electricity and gas industries, including those of Enedis, were regrouped" on the port area of Capécure, whose activity was paralyzed in the morning by demonstrators blocking all heavy vehicle traffic, said Enedis.

"Malicious acts" by strikers

"Enedis strongly condemns these malicious acts" and intends to "file a complaint," said Serge Martin, territorial director Nord-Pas-de-Calais.

The cuts have notably disrupted the operation of an Auchan in Saint-Martin-Boulogne, on the outskirts of the city. "The store is open, but the drive and deliveries are disrupted," said an employee at the store's reception. On its Facebook page, the shopping center of this area announced in the morning the closure of the shops of the shopping mall.
