In the Indonesian capital Jakarta, the death toll after the fire in a gasoline depot has risen to 17.

51 people were injured, most of them seriously, the Antara news agency reported on Saturday, citing authorities. The state energy company Pertamina announced money for the families of the victims and for local residents.

The fire in the fuel depot broke out on Friday evening. The fire, the cause of which initially remained unclear, destroyed according to the fire brigade also houses in the area.

There have often been fires in Pertamina plants. In 2021, more than 20 people were injured in the major fire at a refinery in the province of West Java, and more than 1000,<> people had to leave their homes.
