A new femicide. A woman in her fifties was killed with a knife by her ex-spouse who was then found dead hanged near Bordeaux, we learned Friday from the prosecutor's office of Libourne (Gironde), confirming information from the daily Sud-Ouest.
The gendarmes were looking for this man
The victim, born in 1968, was stabbed with a knife in Saint-Laurent-d'Arce, about thirty kilometers north of Bordeaux. Her former spouse, a time wanted by the gendarmes, "committed suicide by hanging" and was found in a locked garage, said a spokesman for the prosecutor's office. Investigators were forced to force the garage door with a crowbar to gain access. Living in Montendre (Charente-Maritime), about thirty kilometers from Saint-Laurent-d'Arce, the man was 62 years old.
The number of femicides increased by 20% in France in 2021 compared to the previous year, with 122 women killed by their spouse or ex-spouse, compared to 102 in 2020, according to figures from the Ministry of the Interior.
