A man was rescued after seriously injuring himself in a wooded area in Plazac (Dordogne), this Thursday morning. The man cut his calf with a chainsaw, reports France Bleu Périgord. He was then in an area that was very difficult to access. According to Sud Ouest, the 53-year-old victim wanted to clean up in the woods just behind her property.

Helicopter to hospital

The emergency services could not pass their vehicles and had to reach the fifty-year-old on foot. A helicopter of the gendarmerie went to recover firefighters of the Groupe de reconnaissance et d'intervention en milieu périlleux (Grimp). The aircraft then positioned itself above the accident site. The lumberjack was winched to a nearby meadow.

He was then transported by helicopter to the hospital in Périgueux. His condition was considered serious but his days are not in danger, say our colleagues.
