Berlin's Senator for Culture Klaus Lederer (Left Party) has expressed outrage over shots fired at the Schwules Museum in Berlin-Tiergarten. "I am shocked by this horrific act! My full solidarity goes to the GayMuseum," Lederer wrote on Twitter on Wednesday. "There must not be the slightest slackening in the fight against queerophobia."

The museum in Lützowstraße had announced on Tuesday that six bullet points had already been found on the front of the house last Friday. "Two windows, the illuminated lettering and a work of art in front of the front door were damaged." The damage had probably been committed the night before. The police had investigated the crime scene. Nothing is known about the murder weapon.

In April 2020, there were stones thrown at windows, it said. In 2016, a window was damaged by metal balls in six places. The Gay Museum was founded in 1985. It is supported by the state of Berlin and shows, among other things, exhibitions on the history, art and activism of the gay movement. The "Tagesspiegel" had reported.
