National Library and Archives. 350 activities in the «Month of Reading»

The National Library and Archives announced the launch of more than 350 activities and events during the National Month of Reading, including a variety of cultural lectures, creative workshops, knowledge programs, cultural competitions, book fairs, and organizing trips and scientific visits.

These events confirm his interest in the month of March, which the UAE government has designated as the National Month of Reading, and the program of the National Archives and Library was intensive and diverse, as it contributes to preparing a generation of readers, promotes the culture of reading and its sustainability among generations, and is in line with the development process that the country is keen on.

The Director General of the National Archives, Abdullah Majed Al Ali, said: "The National Archives and Library pay special attention to the National Month of Reading, based on the importance of reading and its great role in the sustainability of knowledge and its investment in building generations, and because of the importance of the Month of Reading in supporting culture, and this proves the interest of our wise leadership in reading."

He pointed out that the National Archives and Library focus on sustainability in this year's National Month of Reading, in line with the declaration of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, 2023 as the "Year of Sustainability" in the UAE.

Among the events, the National Archives and Library organizes an internal book fair, in coordination with publishing houses and libraries, and takes advantage of social media platforms, to present a weekly competition (a question from a book) to the audience of the "Instagram" platform, and the visitors of the website of the Archives and the National Library.

The National Library and Archives will implement its intensive program in the month of reading, in cooperation with several strategic partners.

The activities of the National Archives and Library vary to include workshops and lectures that revolve around several topics, the most important of which are: "Reading and its impact on the job community, promoting reading among students, the activities of the National Archives and Library under the spotlight, introducing the Congress of the International Council on Archives hosted by Abu Dhabi, and the memory of the sea in the UAE, which addresses the role played by the sea in the lives of the people of the Emirates, and what marine life in the UAE enjoyed in the years before the discovery of oil, such as shipbuilding, trade, fishing and pearl diving."

The National Library and Archives organize more than 100 events over two days, as part of the "Reading Marathon" program for kindergarten and first cycle students, in cooperation with the Emirates Schools Establishment, and in coordination with the municipal presence, and the "Haq Al-Layla" celebrations come within them.
