There has been a storm in the duck pond since cartoonist Don Rosa wrote in a Facebook group that a foreign publisher contacted him via email and announced that there might not be any future publication of two of his comics about Joakim von Anka.

This is because they are no longer in line with the license owner Disney's values.

In Norway, the series publisher Egmont has confirmed to Nettavisen that they are aware of the problem and that the series will not be reprinted in Norway either.

This has led to a rush for the collection "Farbror Joakim's life", published for the first time in the 90s, which includes one of the current series "The World's Richest Duck".

Most requested title

"Demand has gone through the roof after it became known, through VG, that a couple of the stories may be scrapped in future editions.

It is the most requested title in the last two days," writes Caroline H Heitmann, marketing manager at one of Norway's largest book chains Norli, in an email to VG over the weekend.

It has been speculated, including by the cartoonist himself, that it could be that Bombie, a zombie sent out by a witch doctor, could be the figure that goes against Disney's values.

However, this has not been confirmed.

In an update after the original post, Don Rosa urged fans not to panic, writing that he asked for further explanation from the publisher and has been told that "discussions are ongoing."

The Bokus group, which includes Bokus and Akademibokhandeln, writes to Kulturnyheterna that sales were slightly higher at the beginning of this year compared to last, but that this could also be due to several of the titles being out of stock at the supplier.
