Is it possible to beat the winter blues?

Often categorized as a seasonal depression, it mainly manifests itself by increasing fatigue, laziness, gloom or even irritability.

, and Lionel Conderon, general practitioner, present some tips for overcoming this winter blues.

Listen to resources

To cope with this seasonal depression, there are several forces to rely on, starting with yourself.

Each has a strength of character from which it is possible to draw strength.

"The idea is to listen to our resource, to seek out what, in us, is a strength. Precisely, instead of listening to all these voices with negative thoughts, let's look, seek and put we listen to what we know how to do well, what pushes us upwards”, explains Marie-Claude Treglia at the microphone of Julia Vignali and Mélanie Gomez.

find light

Generally, this problem of winter blues is associated with the lack of light and occurs from All Saints' Day to Easter.

For doctor Lionel Conderon, during the winter, people "are not outdoors enough".

"When the day comes and if you spend the whole day outside, you will receive enough light. On the other hand, inside a house, it is impossible to receive the light quota", he affirms .

According to the GP, people who work outside don't get the winter blues.

This problem is linked to the break with the environment and nature.

"The solution is to find light and why not with more specific lighting used in the morning. In three days, it is possible to regain your energy. With an antidepressant, it will take three weeks and it is not guaranteed" , says Lionel Conderon, yoga instructor.

Listen to emotion

Individuals tend to listen to their enemies or the words that devalue them while forgetting at times to pay attention to their emotions.

"Emotion does not lie to us. The idea would be to listen to it and not only when it is positive. Whether we are sad, angry or indignant, emotion tells us what is important and what is difficult. meaning for us. Learning to listen to it, instead of the mental voice of the brain, allows us to listen to our person and perhaps do ourselves good", warns Marie Claude Treglia.

What differences between depression and depression?

Manage your body temperature

To boost your energy, you need to take care of your body, especially with the temperature.

Between night and day, there is more than 1.4 degrees of difference.

"It's run by little clocks in the brain and it's that marker that makes you fit. If you have the same temperature night and day, it's not good and you're going to be tired," alert Lionel Conderon.

The idea is to be able to reactivate its temperature in the morning.

"Why not a hot shower in the morning that will warm us up, but while staying wrapped up afterwards because the body should not lose its energy. And above all, move. If you do physical activity, you start the machine and you start off on the right foot", explains the doctor.

"To cool down in the evening, the paradox is that you will also take a hot shower. On the other hand, you will remain rather undressed and as you are hot, the body will eliminate this heat and you will be in a cool atmosphere. “, he concludes.

For him, lowering the thermostat in all the bedrooms is a very good way to sleep better and calm down.

A practical gesture in times of energy sobriety.

Avoid dietary supplements

For Doctor Lionel Conderon, a graduate in acupuncture, nutrition and biology, "food supplements will not be of much use if a person already has the necessary vitamins and if he is deficient".

"It's a lack of sunlight, so you can take all the vitamins, it's not going to be enough," said the doctor.

The national health food plan, with the consumption of five fruits and vegetables a day per person, provides sufficient vitamins.

"You have to eat well, that's the key," he concludes.
