In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of "Hachiko," a bee's hometown, an event to toast with sake from Akita Prefecture was held on the 25th in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo.

Known for waiting for the return of his deceased owner in front of Shibuya Station in Tokyo, "Faithful Dog Hachiko" is born in Akita Prefecture and will celebrate its 100th birthday in November this year.

To commemorate this, an event to taste sake and snacks from Akita Prefecture was held on the 25th at the Shibuya Scramble Square venue, and people who made reservations in advance participated.

The participants tasted and compared sake from 7 sake breweries in Akita Prefecture that were lined up at the venue, and ate the specialty pickles "Iburigakko" with great relish.

A 50-year-old male office worker who visited said, "I was looking forward to holding an Akita sake event in the middle of Shibuya. I think I'll go home after seeing the Hachiko statue in front of the station."

Mr. Rei Kotani of Shibuya Scramble Square, who hosted the event, said, "Bee is a symbol familiar to everyone, so I would like to work on disseminating information so that it can be a bridge connecting Shibuya and Akita."

This event will be held on the 26th.
