The 11th edition of SIKKA Art and Design Festival, held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority and Member of Dubai Council, kicks off today.

The final list of participating artists included more than 188 creatives from the UAE and the GCC, whose work was inspired by the festival's slogan "Creativity Renewed on the Same Track".

The festival, which falls under the umbrella of Dubai Art Season, is a celebration of the pioneers of the local and Gulf creative scene, through a series of exhibitions and installations spread over 13 houses, each of which is characterized by innovative productions that highlight the interaction of artists with the cultural and creative industries.

During this year's edition, artist Noura Al Neyadi will participate in her collection "Sea of Camels", rare photographs she took during the past year of Lake (Guelta d'Archei), while Sarah Al-Khayal will present in "Bait Al-Talli" her work "Textile Tales", which represents an invitation for the new generation to discover its culture through patterns of engraving on fabrics, while Wedad Salem Al-Kindi presents her work "Beloved by Man and the Earth", which is inspired by local heritage, and has taken 320 hours to complete, while the Palestinian Arin reveals her work "Carpets". , and includes Islamic, floral, geometric and calligraphic motifs merged into abstract forms.

"In a moment of stillness, nature is no longer static" is the title of the work in which artist Maitha Al Amira draws on the technique of "cyanotype" to observe static moments and temporary nature. Moza Al Falasi showcases Tasbih, which depicts the emotions we project on ordinary objects, while Van Gogh's Dress highlights Noura Taher's influence on Van Gogh's style and the dotted Botela style, in which she replaces the brush with tly and the painting with silk. Artist Feryal Al Bastaki and her colleague Munira Al Mulla present the O-Edition of Sikka collection, an installation that combines contemporary furniture design with traditional handicrafts such as Talli.

Shouq Abdullah will showcase her PPE series, while Aisha Hadher continues her exploration of materials and production in the UAE. Hamda Al Falahi and her colleague Rima Al Muhairi celebrate creativity with their work "Threads of Time: Weaving History on an Empty Painting", and Wafa Al Falahi was inspired by the group of potters who work in small studios in Fujairah.

Syrian Stephanie Sanossian presents her work "Target Wave + Pink Pill", while Amna Al-Banna restores through "BRX Fabrics" the nostalgia of the nineties, while the artist Zayed Ibrahim Al-Hatra translates with his work "Fire" the strength of the woman's soul, and Fatima Al Ali overlooks her mural "Ya Labs Al-Talli", in which she displays the different types of Emirati dress and kandora, and focuses on embroidery of Talli.

Through "Ripple", Saeed Al-Madani and his colleague Ahmed Al-Attar seek to explore the concepts of identity in the age of technology and mechanics, and Rashid Al-Mazrouei presents his work "Sabah Al-Eid".
