A non-commissioned officer of the gendarmerie was placed in custody on February 20 by the research brigade of Châteaulin, in Finistère. The 53-year-old gendarme is suspected of sexual harassment and death threats. The nature of his relationship with the victim is not known at this time.

In a statement, the public prosecutor Camille Miansoni, however, specifies that the soldier imposed on the victim "remarks or behaviors with sexual or sexist connotations" and this "repeatedly". The magistrate adds that these messages addressed to the victim were committed "by a person who abuses the authority conferred on him by his functions". These acts were committed in Plourin-lès-Morlaix, where the local gendarmerie brigade is located. The facts would have started on January 1, 2017 to stop on September 11, 2023, says the prosecutor.

He can no longer practice his profession

For the time being, the facts remain unclear. In particular, the gendarme allegedly threatened to kill a victim "by repeatedly indicating that he would kill him if he harmed the other victim". These acts were allegedly committed in early 2020. Placed under judicial control, the non-commissioned officer will be tried on July 3. In the meantime, he will no longer be able to work in the gendarmerie, the police or the civil service and is prohibited from possessing a weapon. Psychological follow-up was imposed.
