Dubai Art Season 2023 has a wide range of arts and exhibitions on its agenda, featuring a range of artistic and musical events that highlight Dubai's global standing and exceptional cultural experiences.

Held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the new edition of the new season raises the slogan 'Wandering the World of Art and Creativity', and presents a variety of initiatives that will transform Dubai into an oasis of inclusive arts throughout this month and next March.

Dubai Art Season kicked off in conjunction with the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature earlier this month and continues with the SIKKA Art and Design Festival kicking off tomorrow, as well as Art Dubai, Dubai Opera performances, Art Nights evenings, and many other entertainment activities and exhibitions at art galleries.

At its core, Dubai Art Season expresses the spirit of Dubai and its ability to attract artists and creators from around the world, thanks to its potential that has made it a breeding ground for talent, an incubator for artistic and cultural projects, workshops, panel discussions, innovative exhibitions, performing arts and music, among others. The art season also opens horizons for writers, artists and intellectuals to express their creativity in various fields.

Environment

The season's activities reflect the efforts exerted in creating a sustainable and supportive artistic environment for entrepreneurs and idea-makers, embodying the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to consolidate Dubai's position as a global center for culture, an incubator for creativity, and a thriving hub for talent. The current edition of the season carries various programs that contribute to strengthening Dubai's position as an attractive destination for intellectuals, culture and arts, and the capital of the creative economy by 2026, and enhancing its leadership in the field of cultural and creative industries, in line with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to make the emirate among the top three economic cities in the world.

Foreseeing the future

Dubai Art Season kicked off with the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature, which hosted international and Arab literary figures, while the Taste of Dubai Festival showcased culinary experiences from the best chefs and restaurants in Dubai and the region. In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the UAE and Japan, Dubai Culture organized an exhibition of photographs taken of Dubai in 1962, featuring unique photographs of the emirate taken by Japanese photographer Yoshio Kawashima of Sanki Shimbun during his visit to Dubai and the Middle East that year. The AYA show at Wafi City leads its audience on a creative journey that provides them with new interactive experiences, through quality experiences offered by 12 different regions, each with its own character and arts that rely on the latest technologies.

The public will be on a date with the 11th edition of the SIKKA Art and Design Festival, organized by Dubai Culture in the Al Fahidi Historical Neighborhood, which will continue until the fifth of next March, and the exhibition represents a celebration of visual arts, by presenting a bouquet of artistic creations, with the participation of a constellation of local and regional talents.

Al Quoz and Serkal Avenue will host a series of creative cultural events, including art exhibitions, talks and experiences, including the Tree School initiative, which gives the public the opportunity to learn and discover the experiences of others, as well as "Art Tours" designed to offer alternative ways to interact with and engage with the arts worlds, and to carefully absorb the work of artists with deep awareness.

Various Experiences

The Dubai Art Season programme also includes the 16th edition of Art Dubai, which will be hosted by Madinat Jumeirah from the first to the fifth of March, offering visitors the opportunity to see contemporary and modern art from around the world, and to follow many workshops and discussion sessions presented by a group of experts and artists, in which they discuss topics related to the fields of art. The exhibition will also witness the holding of a session at Etihad Museum, organized by Dubai Culture, in which a number of artists and creators will be held, with the aim of presenting new ideas inspired by handicrafts, reflecting their vision of the future of these crafts.

World Art Dubai, which kicks off on the ninth of March at the Dubai World Trade Centre, will offer the opportunity to view more than 4000,300 works by <> international galleries and artists under one roof. The works represent different types of fine arts, calligraphy paintings, graffiti and others, and World Art Dubai is the largest retail art exhibition in the region at affordable prices.

A series of art exhibitions will also be launched in Dubai as part of the art season, including exhibitions presented by the Foundry platform, over three days, starting tomorrow until the 26th of this month, in cooperation with Kalimat and Art in Space in the Boulevard area in Downtown Dubai.

Boulevart features a roster of world-renowned artists, including more than 40 artists participating in around 25 exhibitions, as well as a number of panel discussions, Web3 projects, as well as a series of educational sessions, which contribute to enhancing interaction, communication and joint dialogue with attendees.

A number of art exhibitions are also launched in a number of galleries, including Nujoom Alghanim's exhibition "Out of the Frame" at Aisha Alabbar Gallery, Kawthar Sabry's Retrospective at the Arab Cultural Club, Anthony James' Noor Exhibition at Opera Gallery, and Abduljabbar Weiss's "On the Banks of the Creek" exhibition. Art Dubai will start on the first of March and will continue until the fifth of the same month.

Entertainment Experiences

On the sidelines of Dubai's arts and culture scene, Dubai Art Season will host a range of entertainment events, including the celebration of the M2L market at Gate Avenue. DIFC", with entertainment, art and food, the market, which can be visited until March 19, offers the opportunity to experience different experiences and taste new flavors from around the world.

Dubai Opera is also preparing to present a series of musical and theatrical performances, showcasing the creativity of regional and international talent in the fields of performing arts and music.
