It is a small commercial event that will take place on Tuesday morning in Brest. The second largest metropolis in Brittany has received the honors of the Primark brand, which has chosen to install its new store there. Before Nantes, where the opening is announced at the end of 2023, and before Rennes, where it is not yet a question. Specializing in "fast fashion", the Irish brand attracts hundreds of curious people at each opening who do not hesitate to queue for several hours to find a place on the shelves of the clothing store.

Faced with the fear of a large crowd, the city of Brest has issued closure orders. Coat Ar Gueven Street, where the shopping center of the same name is located, will be partially closed, from 7 a.m. to 20 p.m., to accommodate the likely long queue. This was done to prevent Primark customers from encroaching on the tracks of the nearby tram.

The Irish brand already has about twenty stores in France. The low-cost clothing chain had announced in November an "ambitious growth plan" for France, with the scheduled opening of seven new stores, an extension in Lyon and the creation of 800 jobs. In addition to Brest and Nantes, the brand has planned openings in Angers, Rouen, Mulhouse, Saint-Etienne and Grenoble. In its 2021-2022 financial year, it achieved a turnover of 8.9 billion euros, an explosion of 43% in one year.
