A couple suspected of having deflated the tires of more than 200 SUVs was arrested on Monday in Sèvres (Hauts-de-Seine). Summoned by the police, the two suspects surrendered themselves to the police station, reports Actu Hauts-de-Seine.

The facts mainly occurred in October 2022 in different communes of the department. The two environmental activists, called "The SUV Deflators", attacked hundreds of cars, leaving on the windshield a leaflet giving information on the ecological impact of this type of highly polluting vehicle.

A Twitter account identified

About fifty owners have already filed a complaint. The police officers in charge of the investigations quickly found a Twitter account reporting the various "deflations" and identified the linked IP addresses.

CCTV footage also identified two other suspects. "These would be young adults living in Paris," according to a police source close to the case. The couple was released but the investigation is ongoing.
