Reconstruction of Shurijo Castle's main hall, which was destroyed by fire four years ago in October, is underway with the aim of completing it around the fall of 2020. More than 200 timbers have so far been brought into the warehouse set up at Shurijo Castle.



The government's Okinawa General Bureau has been conducting trial runs of wood processing machines since mid-January, and since the machines are ready, work will begin on the 16th, and the state of affairs will be released to the press. it was done.

Inside, the 8-meter-long, 400-kg-weight hinoki cypress from Nara Prefecture, pre-processed into an octagonal shape, was trimmed to form a circular pillar.



In addition, in the warehouse, craftsmen carefully weighed the moisture content of the wood so that there would be no distortion when the wood was assembled.



Hideaki Ezaki, building supervisor of the development and construction department of the Okinawa General Secretariat, said, "The deadline for completion has been decided, and I think today's start of wood processing is a turning point.
