In a space in the purest New York style but without leaving

Tenerife

, Santa Cruz has crowned its new queen of

Carnival 2023

this Wednesday , the young

Adriana Peña

, who has reached first place among fifteen candidates.

Peña, representing the

Añaza Carrefour Shopping Center

and with a fantasy titled 'Lisboa' by designer

Santi Castro

-who also won first prize at Carnival 2022-, was chosen by the jury and, as was done in the last edition , also by popular vote, represented by the public present at the venue and those who followed the show on television.

With this, the Carnival of Santa Cruz de Tenerife already has a queen, in a festivity that has been celebrated just six months after the last one -which had to be delayed until June 2022 due to the health emergency-, and which has had with the presence of all the carnival groups and performances by various singers, among which the Mexican

Carlos Rivera

stood out .

The event took off at 9:30 p.m. to

New York

, an area that the public accessed through an overture that included the staging of various choreographic groups and musical performances, among which those of the singers Nía stood out

. , Jadel or the K-Narias

, during which various typical scenes of the American city were recreated.

In parallel to this, the queen of Carnival 2022,

Ruth González

, made her appearance before the public dressed in her fantasy 'Look at me', with which she became the winner of the last 2022 edition.

Welcomed by the music of different groups such as the

Afilarmónica Ni Fú-Ni Fá , the

Tropicana de Candelaria

comparsas

-which has obtained the third prize for Interpretation in this edition- and

Río Orinoco

-acésit de Interpretación- or the rondallas, the aspirants to the corona made their appearance divided into four groups.

The emotional component of the evening came with a tribute to the monarchs that the chicharrera party has had, on this occasion, in line with the docuseries 'Tras la máscara', by Raquel García,

about

the chicharreras carnival.

And there was also room for surprises: the adult murgas, another of the participating groups, carried out a joint performance with the unexpected appearance of

Pepe Benavente

, which gave way to the subsequent concert by

Carlos Rivera

.

With this collaboration, the artist is reunited with the Tenerife public, after his visit last year 2021, when he offered a performance without on-site spectators in the same space.
