Ylva Nowén won the slalom cup and finished fourth at the Olympics in Salt Lake City. Nowén struggled with performance anxiety – something that followed her even after her elite sports career.

"I just bombed on. And it was all about me being good enough, as it was also in sports," says Nowén to SVT Sport. Many former elite athletes have felt bad after their sports career, according to a survey by the Swedish broadcaster. The survey found that 25 percent had felt mentally ill as a result of elite sports.
