The Canadian national team defeated the Kazakhstan team in the group stage match of the 2023 Ice Hockey World Championship. Mackenzie Weegar (first minute), Lawson Cruz (fifth, seventh), Joe Veleno (20th minute), Sammy Ble (42nd) scored goals for the winners.
Adil Beketayev (tenth) scored for the losers. The World Championship takes place in Finland and Latvia from 12 to 28 May. The tournament was supposed to be held in St. Petersburg, but was postponed due to the situation in Ukraine.
