Omar Assar beat Truls Möregårdh 4–2 in the sixteenth final. Assar, ranked 30th in the world, knocked out Mattias Falck at the Olympics.

The Swedish World Cup runner-up was not in the match at all. Kristian Karlsson is currently playing against Ma Long in the final. Long is often called the world's greatest table tennis player of all time, in competition with J-O Waldner. The final will take place on Sunday.
