Caroline Garcia, world number 5 and best French chance of the Parisian fortnight, was eliminated in the second round by the Russian Anna Blinkova. Ugo Humbert (40th in the world) was dominated by Italian Lorenzo Sonego (48th) 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 (7/3) on Wednesday, May 31.

Of the 28 Frenchmen competing in the main draw, ten were still entered in the 2nd round of Roland-Garros.
