The International Judo Federation (IJF) acknowledged on Wednesday that Teddy Riner should not have been crowned world champion at the last World Judo Championships in Doha. Russia's Inal Tasoev should have won, but a refereeing error cost him the win.

The action in question came in the golden score, the extra time after the four minutes of regulation fight, where the first who scores wins. Riner (34) was crowned for the eleventh time world champion (nine in +100 kg, two in all categories) in Qatar, six years after her last two titles.
