Jim Hines, the first who managed to cover the 100 meters in less than 10 seconds, died this Saturday at the age of 76. Hines made a name for himself in the history of athletics on October 14, 1968, during the Olympic Games in Mexico.

That day the sprinter became the first man to go under 10 seconds in the hectometer test. He ended his athletic career just a couple of weeks after the conclusion of the Olympic event to make the leap to American football, after signing for the Miami Dolphins.
